Your newsletter was inspiring me to open a second newsletter here on Substack. I thought it was a platform that accepted nudity without any problem. Instead of Patreon, if you used OnlyFans, would you mind?
That's my problem with OF; I also don't want to be associated with the pornographic aspect of the site, although I've already photographed models with profiles there. I'm looking for models and brands that also want to distance themselves from that. I've thought about creating a site where the photos would be there, but the monetization problem with payment gateways would still remain, wouldn't it?
If OF is handling the money collection, there wouldn't be any problem. If you're embedding photos from OF on another site that's collecting the money, then yes, you'd be subject to the rules of that other site. That's my understanding from experience, anyway...
I was thinking of creating a website and selling photo packages, prints, and books there. My concern is whether the payment gateways would end up complaining and blocking everything after it was up and running, as happened in your case. This process of stopping paid subscriptions and issuing refunds is very annoying.
If you're setting it all up yourself from the beginning and can choose the payment service you want to work with, you can avoid the problem. There are some out there that have no problem processing payments for all kinds of things. The problem is when you choose a platform that only uses one payment processor (like Substack) that won't support the content.
Thank you for the kind words, Renato. The platform accepts nudity, but their payment partner apparently does not. How this problem is allowed to exist, I have no idea.
OnlyFans was an option that I considered along with many others. On the content permission side, OF wins. Patreon has limits that Iβll have to be conscious not to transgress, which is a compromise. My problem with OF is its reputation as - Iβll say it plainly - a porn site. I know itβs more than that, but I donβt like the association and want to emphasize the artistic side of my work rather than the nude side, if that makes sense. (No offense intended to anyone out there working on OnlyFans.)
Finally.. good

I am a photographer and OF is not photographer friendly in my opinion. It is more driven towards the model.
Agreed 100%. Itβs tough to us OF if the pictures are not of other OF validated creators.
